The history of the Garment (Apparel) industry in Nepal is little over a decade and half years old. Before that, Apparels in Nepal meant traditional Nepalese garments that were exported to a limited number of countries in limited quantities. These days Apparels from Nepal have been a major export items to developed counties of the world like U.S.A., U.K., Canada, Australia, Japan etc.
Nepalese Garments (Apparels) are the products of low economic background men and women of the mountainous and Terrain parts of the country. The farmers cultivate cotton plants in the West for the thread or yarn to produce cotton apparels. Specially the hand spun and handloom clothes are one of the superb expression of lifestyle in Nepal. Handloom fabrics in Nepal range from traditional pattern weaving of cotton to allo cloth woven from fibers of a plant belong to nettle family.
So produced yarn are dyed with non-harmful color and then weaved to different fabrics, which is used to produce Apparels of different design. These Apparels are hand knitted and embroidered or printed pre stitched garments (like T-shirt, jackets) designed by skilled people.
